Duke Special with support from April Avenue.
Duke Special is a piano-based songwriter living in Belfast. With a romantic style and a warm, distinctly accented voice, he has distinctive long dreadlocks, eyeliner and outfits he describes as “hobo chic”. His live performances are inspired by Vaudeville and music hall blending his Irish-folk roots with musical theatrics and brutalised romanticism.
Duke Special has been nominated for the Meteor Music Awards for best newcomer, and best album for Songs from the Deep Forest. Recently he won the Meteor Music Award for Best Irish Male.
“Dynamic, musically ambitious and bracingly eccentric”, Edinburgh Festival List.
“One of the most interesting, talented and fiercely singular songwriters on the island of Ireland today” RTE Television.
