Commissioned for the 2018 Bolton Worktown Festival to celebrate the play Spring and Port Wine by Bill Naughton, Rafe’s Dilemma brings a mix of jazz, electronic music and rock to create an intriguing sound.
The quartet immerses you in the story of a family on the edge, using spoken word, improvisation, synthesised soundscapes and carefully crafted songs.
They starred at last year’s Jazz Leeds Festival and we are proud to present them again at our Village Jazz Festival in Chapel Allerton Arts. You can expect to live the story through their music, feeling the multitude of emotions we all have towards our families and upbringings with an electric new perspective.
Lineup: Nel Begley vocals / Jamil Sheriff keyboards / Sam Vicary bass / Katie Patterson drums
Sharing the bill for the evening is Phil Green’s Biggish Band celebrating the music of Chapel Allerton’s own jazz trumpet and flugelhorn player Phil Green. Phil is a writer of catchy jazz tunes – hear these played with typical verve and gusto by a big(gish) band arranged by Dave Evans.
