Stand-up poet, armchair revolutionary and recumbent rocker, Elvis McGonagall is the sole resident of The Graceland Caravan Park somewhere in the middle of nowhere where he scribbles verse whilst drinking malt whisky and listening to Johnny Cash.
Elvis is the 2006 World Slam Champion, the compere of the notorious Blue Suede Sporran Club and appears regularly on BBC Radio 4 and occasionally on the telly. His sitcom, “Elvis McGonagall Takes A Look On The Bright Side” was recently broadcast on BBC Radio 4.
“Serving up some wonderfully acerbic left-wing verse, stand-up poet Elvis McGonagall delivers his views on all things topical. No one is safe from his rhymes. With the air of an old-school rocker and sporting a dapper tartan teddy-boy blazer, his presence and charismatic delivery bring the poems to life.” The List (****)
With support from fabulous punk poet, Matt Abbott. “Eyup! I’m a Wakefield born spoken word artist, creative practitioner and activist. My main themes are based around socio-political commentary and kitchen sink realism.”
This is a PWYF event held in Seven Bar.
