The film follows the fortunes of a 17-year-old London lad, Del (Del Walker), and his friends Roy, Chris and Geoff. The four fancy themselves as crooks but when they break into a cafe in Stratford, East London they only get away with small change and cake.
They’re hardly master thieves but their lives are changed forever when they chance upon an old mate, Jo (Sam Shepherd). Jo is a career criminal who goes by the name of ‘Bronco Bullfrog’. Del and Roy subsequently link up with Jo to carry out a robbery that finds them out of their depth.
Meanwhile Del meets Irene (Anne Gooding), a friend of a cousin of Chris’, and they start a troubled relationship.
