Seven Live – Laurel Canyon Union

4th July 2018 - 8:00 pm

It’s top quality from top to tail! Don’t miss one second of this outstanding line up.

Formed in the summer of 2015 by US Grammy nominated ex Acoustic Alchemy drummer John Shepard, this union of fully professional, experienced musicians take their inspiration from the late 60’s / early 70’s American West Coast singer songwriter era, playing well  known songs from artists such as Jackson Browne, Neil Young, Eagles, The Byrds, Poco, James Taylor and more. Expect a great playlist of ‘Cool Californian Country Rock’ with their selection of distinctive Telecaster Twanging, Vocal Harmony, Counter-Culture Americana.

Union Members are :
Rob Watkins – acoustic guitar / lead vocals
Simon Le Geyt – electric guitars / pedal steel guitar / vocals
Ian Sweet – electric guitars / acoustic 12 string guitar / vocals
Wendy Ross – electric violin / mandolin / vocals
Laurie Reader – bass guitar / acoustic bass / double bass / vocals
John Shepard – drums / washboard

And very special guests:

With over thirty years as a regular favourite on the UK acoustic scene, we are amazed here at Seven Live that he’s not yet graced our stage. His latest hot-off-the-press album “We All Share The Same Sky” sees Jon in top form. He is surely one of the finest Yorkshire based contemporary folk singer songwriters working today. A must see.

“The perfect package.” – Gregson Lane Folk Club
“Powerful and charismatic.” – Coppull Folk Festival
“We were blown away.” – Sale Folk Club

We are delighted that this singer and pianist is making a return to Seven Live this July. Engaging and entertaining, with bags of finesse and nuance, his blend of original material and a well chosen cover version or two make him a perfect start to this laid back summer special. After the resounding success of his 2017 album “Ric Neale does Pet Sounds”, he has now completed his new autobiographical record for
2018, “Lullabies For Parents”. A humorous, heartfelt and genuinely moving performer.
