Leeds based The Hard Times Orchestra return to Seven Arts this April with their show Even More ‘Wasted and Wounded’. If you missed them last year now’s your chance to get your toes tapping and your hearts thumping with these songs for the wasted and wounded.
Expect a heady mix of influences from Bessie Smith, via Cab Calloway to Tom Waits.
The Hard Times Orchestra is three musicians, lots of instruments and a dollop of heartbreak.
Jacqui Wicks sings, Richard Ormrod (Schwa, Panjumby, A Dread Supreme) plays lots of useful instruments, and Jonny Flockton (Mik Artistik’s Ego Trip) will sit quietly with in a corner whilst his banjo gently weeps.
‘Jazz Zeitgeistian Smiling Knifers’ Kate Fox, Poet
‘Inimitable and Glorious’ Jim McCloughlin, Musicport
‘Always a treat to have their words and music on air’ Andrew Edwards, BBC Radio Leeds.
‘Gosh! that was amazing. We LOVE the Hard Times Orchestra’ Square Chapel Arts Centre
