Ed is an alumnus of the Leeds Jazz Rock Orchestra and now a local legend on both Leeds and Manchester jazz scenes. He cites Dexter Gordon, Charlie Parker, Joe Henderson, Phil Woods and Grover Washington as key influences on his playing, although his sound is truly his own, and with each solo he makes his own statement.
As the house band at the Salford Kings Arms and, more recently, the Indigo Bar Jazz Jam, his jazz quartet has built up strong musical following. Ed is extremely versatile, and is comfortable playing Latin or funk just as he is playing jazz and blues.
He’ll be accompanied by our own Jazz Leeds trio. There will be a few Tubby Hayes tunes too – Tubby plus!
